Fred Fogel serves as general counsel, overseeing Bauposts legal, compliance, and transaction structuring teams. Before joining Baupost in 2015, Fogel was the general counsel at Silver Point Capital, a Connecticut-based investment adviser focused on credit and special situations. From 2002 to 2004, he was a managing director and general counsel at Ziff Brothers Investments, where he was responsible for all of the firms legal affairs. Prior to that he was executive vice president for Tanning Technology Corporation and a partner at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. Fogel began his legal career as a clerk for the Hon. Gary Stein in the Supreme Court of New Jersey. He earned his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University. Fogel is also a member of the board of trustees of Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America.
