Katherine Renfrew is a Portfolio Manager for the TIAA-CREF organization. Ms. Renfrew co-manages TIAA-CREF Asset Managements Emerging Markets Debt portfolios for TIAAs General Account and for its actively managed total return funds totaling approximately $9B in aggregate. She is the sector Portfolio Manager for all Emerging Markets Corporates and Quasi Sovereigns and also for Developed Markets Agencies (excluding Canada and US). From 2005-2013, she served as Portfolio Manager for all Emerging Markets Debt strategies, including sovereigns. In 2004, she launched TIAA-CREFs first Emerging Markets Blended Strategy product and has been the portfolio manager since its inception.
Prior to her global EM portfolio management roles, she was the South American regional analyst and acted as the Portfolio Manager for TIAA-CREFs Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions. From 1998 to 2001, she was TIAAs Asian and EMEA regional analyst and trader. Before joining the Emerging Markets team, she was a member of TIAA-CREFs Structured Finance team, in which she analyzed and invested in a variety of asset-backed securitization products. She joined TIAA-CREF in 1997.
Ms. Renfrew has 22 years of investment experience, including her role as a fixed-income securities analyst at MONY Capital Management. She also worked for two years as a financial analyst at Mattel Toys. Ms. Renfrew holds a B.S. in economics and a B.S. in engineering from the University of Michigan as well as an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from Columbia Business School.
