Thomas J. Abruzzo

Managing Director

Thomas J. Abruzzo is a managing director and regional head of Fitch Ratings' North American financial institutions group. Tom rejoined the financial institutions group in 2009, after serving a short time as the group credit officer for global insurance and the fund and asset managers' rating groups. From 2003 to 2008 Tom served as head of Fitch's financial guarantors group. Earlier in his career at Fitch, Tom was the team leader responsible for all US-based finance and mortgage company ratings within the financial institutions group.

Before joining Fitch in 1998, Tom was an associate director at Standard & Poor's in the financial institutions rating group. He also worked as a financial institutions analyst in the treasury group for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.

Tom earned a BS in finance from St. John's University and an MBA in finance from Fordham University.
