Dan Champeau is Managing Director, Global Group Head of the U.S. and International Public Finance as well as Global Infrastructure & Project Finance groups. In this role Dan is responsible for all analytical coverage and research commentary across Global Public and Infrastructure Finance. The group includes over 200 employees covering approximately 5,000 issuers. 
 
Prior to Dan's current appointment, he was managing director and head of the Business & Relationship Management team for the U.S. Public Finance and the Global Infrastructure & Project Finance groups. In this capacity, Dan was responsible for all business activities for these two groups, including new business origination; investor, dealer, and banker relations; and business strategy; among others.
 
Prior to rejoining Fitch in 2009, Dan worked at FSA in the Infrastructure Finance Group, originating and underwriting large and complex infrastructure and project financings across a variety of sectors, such as transportation, social infrastructure, and sports, among others. Prior to joining FSA, Dan worked at Fitch for 13 years in various analytical and management capacities, including as head of the Global Infrastructure & Project Finance Group (Americas), head of Fitch’s New York Public Finance office and all revenue bond and infrastructure rating groups nationwide, and earlier as co-head of Fitch’s west coast office in San Francisco. Dan began his career at Ambac, working in the corporate finance department.
 
Dan earned a BA from the University of Maryland at College Park, attended Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business, and received an MBA from San Francisco State University. Also, Dan has won numerous industry analytical awards, including Street and Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal’s “40 Under Forty” award and a number of Smith’s Research & Gradings Review All-Star analytical awards for his work in public finance and infrastructure. Dan has been a frequent presenter at industry conferences/symposiums, has been quoted extensively in the mainstream press, and has been interviewed on television on multiple occasions regarding the municipal and project finance markets.
